Outer Banks Firsts

The Outer Banks is the land of firsts.  The very first heavier than air powered flight was conducted on our sandy shores by the Wright Brothers in 1903.  The first English child of the new world, Virginia Dare, was born right here on Roanoke Island in 1587.

Visitors to the OBX never forget their first visit or their first experiences here.

This Summer, we're celebrating all of the "firsts" that happen on the Outer Banks that create memories that "last" for our guests.

We invite you to share your OBX firsts with us . . . . . . . your first visit, the first time you saw the sun rise over the Atlantic, the first time you climbed a lighthouse or Jockey's Ridge, the first time your grandkids saw the ocean, or the first time your family saw the wild horses of Corolla.

Enter to win our OBX "Firsts that Last" photo contest by sharing your favorite OBX photo and story of your "first" experience.  You can share your story on our social media channels below using the hashtag #weAReOBX  or email them to us at share@weAReOBX.com.

Winners will be picked at random each month from that month's submissions and will win an Atlantic Realty vintage swag basket! One grand prize winner will be chosen from the monthly winners at the end of the Summer to win a Free Weekend stay!!!
