Cleaning Policies and Procedures

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Atlantic Realty has made significant changes in policies in order to provide the safest and cleanest environment for your Outer Banks vacation.

While there is no guarantee that vacation rental homes can be 100% virus free, our cleaning staff follows industry guidelines for sanitizing and disinfecting homes after each guest. We use commercial quality cleaning products approved by the EPA to disinfect against COVID 19 and our staff is professionally trained on their use. Homes are inspected for cleanliness after each guest leaves and before each guest arrives to ensure guest satisfaction. Our cleaning staff has been instructed to pay special attention to all high traffic touch surfaces including light switches, remote controls, and door handles during this outbreak as an extra precaution.

We are following CDC guidance and applicable VRMA "Safe Home" protocols for cleaning and disinfecting each home.

Here are the additional changes we’re making:

PPE -- Employees will utilize Personal Protective Equipment such as face masks and disposable gloves.
On Solid Surfaces -- We apply an EPA* approved product to sanitize and disinfect solid surfaces. In addition, we provide our housekeeping staff with a checklist of "high touch" points throughout the homes so that they can be sure to pay extra attention to those items.
On Soft Surfaces -- We treat all fabric on furniture, drapes, curtains, bedspreads, pillows, and mattress pads. In addition to our normal cleaning procedures, we are "fogging" fabrics with a long lasting, EPA approved bacteriostatic to protect surfaces in between the normal cleaning and disinfecting process.
Linens -- Guests who rent linens receive products that come from a third party, commercial linen service that uses high heat washers and dryers to properly sanitize these items. Currently, we have suspended bed making service. Instead, all linens will stay wrapped in plastic so they remain sanitized for guest arrival.
