Memories

As a child in the 70s my family rented this house for many years. It was a perfect place for my us to make many memories. We hope to rent it in the future for a reunion. I will say the house is almost exactly the same in so many ways. The living and dining room furniture are the same. The upstairs master at that time was a second kitchen. I’m love seeing all the updates and how well the house was preserved when it was restored. I hope everyone renting this wonderful beach house will take home lots of memories

Great House

This is a quaint, older beach house that has more space than you think. Loved the old feel of the place, with the hardwood floors and original wood doors throughout. Even though its an older cottage, it has dual zone air conditioning, which is a plus. Pros: The location is great - being right on the beach made this the most relaxing vacation for us. No hauling our stuff to and fro and jockeying for a good spot. The bedrooms are very spacious. The second floor deck off the master bedroom made for perfect sunrise views every morning. Bathroom showers are a little tight, but they were fine. Outdoor shower is not enclosed so its really just a rinsing station, not a full shower. We made a lot of use of the screened in porch for meals. Kitchen is small but well stocked and functional. Cons: The house is right next to a public beach access, which means a lot of people walk by during peak hours. Thats didnt bother us, but you feel a little like a youre in a fishbowl with people looking at the house as they walk by. Beds are not that comfortable. Internet access was not very reliable. It went out several times when we were there. I also had to reset the router a few times. If you plan on doing any work, this might be a problem for you. It also meant my kids couldnt stream at times. Not a big deal, because we had no rainy days and spent all our time outside, but it was a little annoying. Also they did not provide the WiFi password with the check in materials so I had to call on Monday for that. TVs are ridiculously small and we didnt use them. They didnt supply the customary roll of toilet paper or hand soap in the bathrooms. We arrived late Sunday night after a long drive and had to use napkins the first night until we could get to the store. I asked about this and they said it was due to COVID, so bring your own TP. The house was pretty clean on arrival, but it was clear the comforters hadnt been washed in some time. I spent the first day washing all the bedding. Beach Road has quite a bit of traffic so if you are sitting on the screened in porch or the front deck, it can be loud. One of the trash cans has a broken wheel. All in all it was a great house in a location we love and we already booked again for next summer

Loved this House. Perfect for our family, with a 1yr.old and a 4yr.old it was perfect, Easy Beach access and conveniently located to grocery stores and restaurants. Would defiantly book this house again.

Very Nice overall
This house is in a great location, the ocean views are amazing, it has easy access to the beach and it is centrally located to restaurants and grocery stores, etc. The linens are included and beds are made, perfect after a long day of driving. Who wants to make beds? All of the rooms are a nice size except the kitchen, which was really small and not well stocked with useable cooking supplies. Normally we cook at the house several times during the week, we didn't at all this week. The cleaning staff didn't do a good job preparing the house for our visit, there was a lot of dust and dog hair throughout especially under the furniture. We agreed that we could overlook the size of the kitchen, but the cleanliness issue is really not acceptable. We would stay again if we knew that it was going to be properly cleaned. Thank you.

The decks are fabulous, and the living room views wonderful. This quintessential old beach house is, in my opinion (with 40+ years visiting the OBX), the best house on the beach!
