Positives: The location is great - literally just a few steps from the beach access. Since there are no houses behind it, there is a direct view to the beach. This part of Corolla is very narrow from sound to ocean, so there are not very many houses sharing the same beach access, resulting in a very uncrowded beach area. Harris Teeter and Wings are an easy walk or a 1-minute car ride away. The ship's watch is a nice feature, and there is a ton of deck space (although several of the chairs were broken). Inside the house, the living room is partially updated and has a flat screen TV with cable and free movie channels. The wi-fi was easy to use. The dining room table seated our group of 6 perfectly. The master bedroom and master walk-in shower were nicely sized. Negatives: The house was very run down and needed a total renovation. Every floorboard creaked, the decor was extremely outdated and tacky in most rooms, and there were many repairs that needed to be made. The entire house shook when anyone walked, especially upstairs. The flat-top electric stove took forever to heat and the pans were bowed at the bottom, so it was very difficult to cook anything. In the kitchen, there were more glasses than one could ever need, but there were not enough bowls to eat or serve with and not enough storage containers. The hall bath on the middle floor (shared by the queen bdrm & twins bdrm) is extremely small and is not very nice to look at -- same with the bedrooms themselves. Conclusion: If you're just concerned that a house is clean, close to the beach, and can sleep 6, this works. If you're looking for an updated house that is comfortable to be in and if you care about appearances, or if you like to cook a lot, this is not it. This house is #4 out of the 4 houses we've rented at OBX. My suggestion to the owners is that renovate as quickly as possible. There is a lot of potential due to the super location.

We loved Carobu! For the past 2 yrs we rented a 3 BR house with pool, 1.5 blocks from beach in Duck. Carobu was much more fun! The house: great beachy feel with beautiful views of dunes and ocean from main level and hot tub. You can see the surf from crows nest (unobstructed by the dunes.) Renovated older home with character, nice decor, plenty of room for the 4 of us, comfortable beds and couch. The only reason we didn't give this 5 stars was because the other LR seating is not as comfortable. I was frankly apprehensive about the kitchen after reading the other reviews, but happily found a decent sized kitchen that was well equiped, including blender. We cooked, baked and didn't need a thing. Great wooden porch furniture,some needs repair but very comfortable with the cushions. So great to have the large hot tub just 2 steps out the door on the deck (also refreshing for a dip during the day if you turn it down a bit.) We enjoyed the putting green (putters available) and the FFP golf course in kitty hawk was very nice. Location: Just 4-5 steps off driveway to beach access, so we ran home for lunch, pina coladas... The beach is so close we made it down most nights, playing twilight bocce ball --the sand crabs stealing the ball were very entertaining-- and just generally enjoying the wonderful beach at sunset. With the grocery store so close, we didn't have to shop for everything on Saturday when the store was so crowded (wish it was a Sunday turn day). Very close to our favorite restaurants (Mike Dianna's and Rt 12 Seafood) No problem with traffic from Corolla end when leaving at 7am. To the owners: excellent dessert, thank you very very much, and see you next year!

This house is all about the location - easy beach access, great views from the Crow's Nest, easy distance to food and shopping. We have definitely enjoyed the improvements to the house over the years and love being able to bring our dogs with us. That said, the house - especially the kitchen, feels a bit neglected, and it's hard to get really comfy in the living room. Good still outweighs the bad, but the bad is starting to creep up given the steep weekly rental price. It's getting to the point where we might have to look for other options, which after so many years is tough, but necessary.

We had a great time at the Carobu. It is a nice small rental home, with great views. The king size bed was great!!! We also loved having our dogs with us---we don't travel without them. The kitchen was nice---just the right amenities to do a little cooking. The area was great---lots of shopping, good food (little out of the way places), close to a great grocery store. The beach was the best part!!!

We vacationed in this house two years in a row and loved it! We liked being able to bring our dog, who enjoyed the ocean in the morning and then napped all day. We vacationed the fourth of july week the one year and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the crow's nest. I loved being able to drink my coffee on the deck and see and smell the ocean. Our only regret is that we haven't been able to come back but hope to in the future!

This place is just the perfect distance from the beach and everything else. When the weather is bad is really the only time you can hear the waves inside the house. It is one driveway down from the neighborhood beach access. The walking distance is nothing. The crows nest is awesome!!! It is the tallest place in the neighborhood. Close enough to Norfolk Air Force base to see all kinds of planes and helicopters. Beautiful sunsets up there too. You can see from the ocean to the Harris Teeter, which is less than 5 minutes walking distance (super convenient since we were on a motorcycle). The hot tub is wonderful as long as the neighbors are not grilling. Then the smell or the smoke will make you get out till they are done. In one direction you are 5 miles from the Currituck Light House, 8 miles from the end of the road where the wild horses are, the other direction you are 10 to 12 miles from the Wright Brothers Museum and 10 more miles to the Bodie Lighthouse and Roanoke Island and The Lost Colony. The house is a little older so is not perfect, but has plenty of cabinets and room and furniture and it is all in pretty good shape. All of the bedrooms are on the 1st floor(really 2nd floor). The top floor is basically one gigantic room with the kitchen on one side and tons of windows through out. The deck wraps around 3 sides and is huge. The deck furniture is wooden and very comfortable.

After coming to the Outer Banks for 15 years, we found the perfect house for a single family. We loved everything about the house. The people at Atlantic Realty were all very nice and helpful. The owners of the home were generous with all little gifts they sent us. The view was excellent and the stereo system outside was great. The only problem we say was when it rained, there was no cover over the door way and you got drenched trying to lock or unlock the door. The kitchen could have used more pans but that's minor when your vacationing. We highly recommend this house and will most likely rent it again.

this was our first experience staying North of Kitty Hawk, and it was great. Though the drive is more than we are used to, the residential nature of the area and the quality homes and shopping were worth it. Not to mention the proximity of the beach from the house! The house itself was great, with ample room and a great relaxing hot tub and decks- we would come back for sure. We were one twin sheet short but did make do. We enjoyed the least the temperature difference between the floors- the bedrooms were freezing when the upper floor was comfortable.

Service from Atlantic Realty was good. Everyone was very helpful. The house was nice and well equiped. The hot tub was great for the rainy day. Very close to the beach. Nice decking. Furniture was comfortable, a very relaxing experience. We were glad to be able to bring our dog with us. Not a good place for older pets or older people. Loved the decks for reading and relaxing. The house has very poor lighting for reading which bothered me the most. The owner was very generous with complimentary gifts and certificates, which was much appreciated.

As a family of 5 with 3 younger children we felt the home had plenty of space and was close enought to the beach to run home for bathroom breaks and forgotten items. The view from the decks was outstanding and the street we were on was quiet. Over all we were very pleased with home and the putting green and hot tub were the icing on the cake!
